Sydney Urban Landscape Watercolour Painting with Arafat Hosen

This five-hour session will immerse participants in the fundamentals of watercolor painting while capturing the essence of Sydney’s urban landscape.

About the Artist:
Arafat Hosen is an experienced artist from Bangladesh with fourteen years of teaching history. He views watercolor painting as a meditative journey – an approach to deep observation, where colours blend, shapes harmonize, and visual storytelling unfolds.

Workshop Structure:
Introduction & Discussion: The session begins with a conversation with the artist, where he will discuss his artworks and the core principles of watercolor painting.

Demonstration & First Wash: Arafat will demonstrate the process of drawing, composition, and initial wash techniques. Participants will then start their own paintings, following his guidance.

Layering & Detailing: In the second session, the artist will showcase advanced techniques, including layering, dry brushing, and intricate detailing with figures.

Hands-on Practice & Feedback: Participants will continue working on their paintings with individual guidance from the artist. The session will conclude with a group discussion.

Workshop Outcome:
By the end of the session, participants will:
-Gain fundamental knowledge of watercolor techniques.
-Learn how to compose and execute an urban landscape painting.
-Develop skills in layering, dry brushing, and detailing.
-Enhance their ability to observe and interpret cityscapes through watercolor.
